A Guided Meditation for Busy Minds & People

This meditation is intended to support those who want want to feel more relaxed, calm or present but have a hard time unplugging from busy-ness. Busyness is defines as a state or condition of having a great deal to do. But busyness can also be in our minds at times, even though we are not consumed with doing much but thinking. Being able to pause from thinking or doing, allowing ourselves to just ‘be’ is vital to our mental health and well-being, particularly for those who suffer from anxiety, depression, and PTSD. It’s a skill that can be cultivated and strengthened. We often can do it when circumstances are right and do it without being conscious of it. This meditation is to increase our capacity to make the switch consciously and call up on it when needed.

This mediation is also an exercise in being able to hold different and sometimes conflicting parts of ourselves within our awareness. This is an amazing skill to have in your emotional tool box. I frequently work with my client to be able to attend to conflicting emotions and parts of our inner experience. Having contradictory feelings and experiences is natural, however we often resist it because we don’t know how to be with it or make sense of it. Learning to hold the ‘both/and’ can alleviate the tension of an experience and give us more freedom to choose how we want to respond. It can increase our sense of wholeness as we aren’t trying to make ourselves feel or be one way. It can also increase our trust of ourselves and boost self esteem, as we learn to tend to all that inside us.
