Group therapy.
Group therapy can be another way to address your mental health concerns and challenges. In group therapy, 1-2 therapists facilitate a group of 5-20 people. The community that is often created in these sessions can support your growth. By seeing you are not alone and that others may have similar struggles as you, you can find acceptance for yourself. We often learn self compassion by having others show us how to give and receive this kindness. Compassion is a vital component for healing.
Ongoing Groups
The New Mama’s Support Group
Some days you might feel exhausted, overwhelmed or are craving some adult conversation. Maybe you are wondering if your experience is normal, are you doing enough for your baby, or what is the right way to feed this little human?
It can be invaluable to hear from other moms what they are going through or how they navigate their growing newborn. This group supports each person to find their own way through motherhood. I bring my 15+ years of experience as a midwife and invite you to share yours.
Group format
In each group we open with a brief guided meditation and check in. Discussion follows. The discussions range from topics like sleep, moods/mental health, postpartum sex, navigating COVID, fire season, guilt shame, our relationships with our own mothers, self-care, breast feeding, birth stories or more. There is a small amount of curriculum around mindfulness and coping with stress taught.
A new group starts in the Fall and late Winter and are limited to 8 people. We meet twice a month over video to share experiences. New mothers are encouraged to attend most session for the 4 month series.
Group members are invited to share contact information with one another if they are comfortable to foster community and connection between sessions. I will share resources throughout the group.
Babies are welcome. Non-binary gendered mamas welcome.
There are no groups currently planned. Contact me for other referrals for mother’s support groups. contact me here.
Relational Somatic Healing Practice Groups & Mentorship
Relational Somatic Healing (RSH) is a powerful, nourishing therapeutic approach that centers the client-therapist relationship as the primary tool for healing. In it, the client can learn to receive love, security, care and more from the therapist experientially , transforming how the client is relating to themselves, others and their life. For more on RSH click here.
I host a RSH practice group for students of the method to receive mentoring and support for their learning. If you are interested in this please reach out to me via the contact page.
